Phanerophthalmus and Smaragdinella are two genera of haminoids gastropods restricted to the tropical Indo-West Pacific. Very little is known about their evolution and diversity and this project aims to revise the systematics of these two genera and to use them as models to understand the patterns and process of speciation in shallow-water tropical species. A combination of molecular, morpho-anatomical, and phylogenetic methods is used.
